I wanted to be a doctor since I was little. My family moved a lot so I was always meeting new people. To make friends, I signed up for football and because of my size, I was put on the line. When I first graduated from college, I worked as a Biochemist for Wyeth Labs. One day I realized that working on the same lab, doing the same thing with the same people wasn’t working for me and I went to Jefferson Medical College. After my residency and internship I started working at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital and became attending on their Head Trauma Unit. At the same time, I was detoxing people at Malvern Institute. Eventually I switched to do the same work for Paoli Hospital Center for Addictive Disease. While doing those jobs, I built a practice in Family Medicine with 6 other doctors.

After 25 years in practice, I gave it all up to care for my paraplegic mother. We lived in Florida and I sailed between the Bahamas and the coast of the US - up to the Chesapeake and down to the Caribbean.

Once my mom passed, I found a woman crazy enough to do what I did. We married and I went back to work.

Since then, I've done Urgent Care, Detox, and Corrections.

I've seen it all, done it twice, and have the T-shirt!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving and empowering my community of Philadelphia. I am originally from Brooklyn New York. I graduated college and taught 9th grade global history in the Bronx. As a teacher I would have a group of students sitting in my class before and after school talking to me about life. I moved to Philadelphia and started working as a Coach to youth transitioning out of the foster care system. The youth that I worked with motivated me to get my Masters of Social Work from Widener University. After graduating Widener I supported families who experienced trauma due to community violence. I also worked with youth transitioning back to their neighborhood schools from out of county placements. For self-care I exercise, read and enjoy being in nature. Being a social worker I have been privileged to sit with people as they successfully weather the storms of life. I am fortunate to call Philadelphia home because of the resilience and creativity of the city.
