Hot off the press! Saliyah Williams has passed the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Exam! By successfully passing, she has demonstrated just how much she has learned and will take away from her time at the health center. Obtaining this certification is an impressive feat in its own and Saliyah managed to do so while applying to college and working on her culminating senior project.
Saliyah came to William L. Sayre High School as a sophomore. She began participating in the Sayre Health Initiatives, Education, and Leadership Development (SHIELD) program that same year. She immediately stood out for her engagement and interest in healthcare. The following summer, Saliyah was hired as an apprentice, which allowed her to apply the skills and knowledge she acquired in SHIELD. In the health center, Saliyah augmented her knowledge of patient care, office administration, phlebotomy, EKGs, medical law & ethics, and professional communication. As she worked on her administrative and clinical skills, Saliyah became a patient favorite, especially for her skills in phlebotomy. After participating in the apprenticeship program for the last two years, Saliyah is committed to becoming a nurse and we at Sayre Health Center agree she is well suited and on her way for accomplishing this dream.
In addition to her CCMA exam success, she has already been accepted to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania! We are excited to see where else Saliyah is admitted and to watch her grow on her path of becoming a nurse.
